Fire in the Park Volunteer
Fire in the Park is a community preparedness event first started by the Firefighters Union 452 to help teach the community about personal safety. It has since grown to include disaster preparedness information, bike safety, water safety, first aid/CPR, fire safety, knowing when to call 911/311, household chemical information, and home tool safety. Representatives from many community and social services organizations will be there like AMR, Vancouver Firefighters, Paul Davis, American Red Cross, CRESA, Safe Kids Clark County, and we are very lucky to have all of them so willing to participate.
As well as lucky to have you! Our volunteers with the general public are awesome, and we greatly appreciate everything you guys do and are willing to do to further help make this event a success. Below is a quick, bullet point description of your duties for the volunteer position you have chosen. Volunteer positions, unless otherwise specified, will be two shifts of three hours: 9 AM – 12 PM, 12 PM – 3 PM. Youth volunteers will have three shifts of two hours: 9 AM – 11 AM, 11 AM – 1 PM, 1 PM – 3 PM.

Antique Apparatuses
Position Description:
- Fire in the Park has many antique and modern vehicles for the public to look at and see, however, these are not toys. The main responsibility of this volunteer position is to prevent the public from getting inside the trucks and looking around without being supervised by one of the firefighters or AMR staff that will be there.
- On-site training and discussion will be provided before the event begins. Please arrive 30 minutes early in order to receive this information and training.
Bike Safety Booth
Position Description:
- The purpose of this booth is to teach children about bike safety. The children will walk through a maze and use hand signals to get through it, at the end they will receive a stamp on their passport. Further on-site training will be provided as needed.
Set Up/Take Down Volunteer
Position Description:
- Set up and take down volunteers will help the sponsor volunteers to set up their areas by helping to put up tables, tents, and park vehicles or set out supplies. Set up volunteers will begin promptly at 7 AM, to help set up be complete by 830 AM. Take down volunteers will begin promptly at 3 PM to help takedown everything until done, hopefully around 4 PM.
- This will be a physical job. If you are not able to lift heavy items, or be on your feet a lot, please see one of our other volunteer positions available.
